Pepes Hideaway Beyond our expectations...

Comments: From the moment we were greeted with a hand painted banner welcoming us and acknowledging our 40th wedding anniversary to Speedy serving me his special shrimp pasta dish on our last morning (he knew it was my favourite meal) - we were treated like honoured guests in what is more a "home" than a hotel... Having lived in Latin America for over 30 years (inlcuding Mexico) we are well aware of what tourism opportunities exist and felt that Pepe's is truly one of the most enchanting destinations we have encountered. Palapa # 3 afforded us moments of quiet reflection and visits by pelicans, egrets and even manta rays every morning as well as local fisherman throwing their nets with great expertise. At the pool area we spent many hours on the shaded terrace and within steps were cooled off in a pleasant pool - the area really feels like the living room in a private home. The jacuzzi hangs out over the Pacific Ocean and the small, secluded bay on the property offers a terrace with hanging lounge platform and cool shade. One of the best aspects of our visit were many days spent on the beach at the private beach club for owners of homes in this exclusive La Punta community. The walk down hill was about 15 minutes and Speedy or Juan come to pick you up to return you to "paradise". Extremely good tennis courts (4) are within 2 minutes walk and the pro, Salvador, is always ready to "hit" with Pepe's guests. Trips further afield can be easily arranged by Speedy and we hired a taxi for a day (driver Juan who speaks perfect english) and went north up the coast visiting various fishing/tourist communities. We definitely now know why so many clients have returned to Pepe's year after year. A note: have no idea if children are allowed or not bu

Pepes Hideaway - Utopia

Comments: There are many beautiful places in the world to visit, but this is the place for you if you are looking for outstanding service, excellent food, all your wants fulfilled, and yes did I mention the views!! Pepe's Hideaway is indeed a luxury vacation spot minus all the hustle and bustle of a crowded hotel. You are greeted by "Speedy" the world's best concierge, chef, driver, tour guide, shopper...where do I stop? He does it all and will get you anything you want. Speedy is truly a gem and treats you like royalty. Pepe is a kind hearted soul who's goal is to make you happy 24/7 and has the cutest Daschund's Daisy and Zippy. During our stay, Speedy arranged for us to go fishing...we saw dolphins, whales, turtles, sailfish, and caught Mahi Mahi and Mackerel which we later had for dinner. We also went to the market to shop and enjoyed the Beach club-which should not be missed. It is very quiet here, we didn't get hot without air because the breeze off the ocean keep you cool at night. We didn't miss TV and did not bring our computers but they do have wireless available. We will definitely return and enjoyed every minute of our 7 days and want to thank Pepe for sharing his beautiful secret hideaway with us. L & J Michigan

Pepes Hideaway - Amazing

Comments: Others here are describing Pepe's as paradise, and it's no joke - this place has to be seen to be believed. A real stunner. Truly one of the most special places I've ever been. Pepe was an amazing host, the staff wonderful and accommodating. Plus an incredible value. Go - you won't regret it.

Pepes Hideaway - So much value for the money, in a one-of-a-kind spot

Comments: We had our doubts about Pepe's because the web site does not nearly do it justice. But the rave reviews from other Trip Advisor readers convinced us and we were not disappointed. The palapas are spacious and very comfortable, with marble walk-in showers, refrigerators, outdoor seating with hammock, and views to die for. We have never had a better oceanfront room. The food is all inclusive, right down to a mid-afternoon snack if you get hungry. They basically give you the run of the kitchen after hours. Speedy, the resident cook and manager, is excellent at both. Pepe is fun and friendly and great to talk to. Public areas are very comfortable and relaxed. The only downsides are that dinner is served at 6:00 sharp, and while you are in no way obliged to eat there, it does cut into your nap time! Also, there is very little information given about how the property works, what's available on the outside, etc. No "book" or "house rules" sheet to consult. You pretty much have to ferret out any information about the site and Manzanillo on your own. ALso, the wireless internet does not make it into most of the palapas, so you have to visit to the pool to get a signal. Hardly a big concern, but the rooms are so fantastic, you want to stay in them! The two dogs who share the property couldn't be sweeter. Lastly, the larger property, La Punta, in which Pepe's is located, is, while gorgeous itself, far from anything -- not that there's that much in Manzanillo worth leaving Pepe's to see., We'll be back first chance we get, asking for the Blue palapa again!

Pepes Hideaway - A lovely surprise - jungle setting in Manzanillo

Comments: Pepe's really is a hideaway, hidden on a palm-tree covered point in an exclusive part of Manzanillo. With just seven simple palappa'd rooms, a small pool with a comfortable lounging area and a pretty outdoor dining room, it was a very relaxing place to stay with discreet but friendly staff and good food (the pre-dinner marguerita was one of the best). Don't expect tv or air conditioning here - just the hum of a fan and the crash of the surf to listen to. There are some lovely tennis courts and a beach club available to guests but by the time you are lying on your chaise by the pool with your book and drink nearby, you won't want to move. Perhaps if you stay for longer and get tired of total relaxation these might come in handy. Some other guests we met recommended renting a car to see some nearby towns and beaches within an hour's drive. There are the ubiquitous mosquitos here but, if you ask, the staff will put a mosquito net over your bed so you can keep your glass doors open overnight. There is also every variety of bug spray and citronella candles in each palappa, so it's not a problem

Pepes Hideaway - Best Mexico has to offer Pepes Hideaway

Comments: We have stayed in wonderfull places on vacation, however never one like Pepe's. We fell in love instantly because we felt like we where at home and not at some over packed over priced hotel. The views where amazing to say the least and the service was superb. Speedy took care of any thing we wanted and the staff treated our girls like royalty. Speedys cooking was incredible and there is nothing that man can't do for you. Pepe well like i told him, "when i grow up i want to be just like you". He has put together a spectacular place and he is one of the most interesting gentleman that i have had the pleasure to meet. We can't wait till our next visit!!!!
